About Pastor Mark

Mark Dobney was commissioned through the Presbytery of the Cascades to serve as Pastor of Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Warrenton, Oregon in late August 2025 having filled the role as lay minister since the beginning of the year. Mark has been an active member of this church serving as Elder, member of the Church Session, and lead in caring for the church property and grounds including the original manse (pastor residence) house on the property. He felt called toward a larger role in his life of faith while attending Pioneer Church and supported by the congregation actively sought to grow his understanding of the bible and his connection to God and His Son Jesus. To that end Mark attended classes through Union Presbyterian Seminary.

Mark is a veteran of 30 years of service in the United States Coast Guard. As a second career after active-duty retirement, he went back to work for the US Coast Guard as a civilian Search and Rescue coordinator completing a 20 year-long second career and settling in Hammond, Oregon. Mark enjoys the water but now focuses on kayaking for fun instead of jumping in for the rescue. He is married for over 50 years to wife Katherine with their extended family living nearby on the coast in Tillamook.
